SAVE the DATE: The BC Festival of Learning has been scheduled for June 6 – 9, 2016 at the Delta Villa hotel in Burnaby with some events happening down the street at BCIT.
The Festival of Learning is a collaborative four-day learning event conceived by the members of the BC Teaching and Learning Council to leverage expertise across the province and provide a time to learn from each other. It is one big gathering of people interested in enhancing and advancing teaching and learning practices in universities, colleges and institutes.
The Festival is geared for the BC post-secondary education community (leaders, faculty, instructors, support staff) to engage in half day, full day or multi-day learning experiences. It isn’t set up like a traditional conference (no keynotes, banquet etc.) yet rather includes a varied collection of activities happening concurrently over the four days. Participants will choose 1, 2, 3 or 4 day passes and then pick and choose events they’d like to attend and make their own learning experience. Topics will include course redesign, program renewal, educational development, learning technologies, open education, and so forth
It is about BC sharing and showing what we can do when many groups work together. Many existing conferences, workshops and symposia are merging into the Festival to make this one big epic event (e.g., other teaching and learning organizations in BC such as ETUG, BCcampus, Open Education Summit etc.)
More to come by mid-February.
